Habemus papem

I remember being told when I was in Egypt all about the procedure for electing a new Coptic Pope. Following much prayer and presumably lots of jangly singing, the name was drawn by lot from three rolled up bits of paper that had been placed in a chalice.

I remember remarking at the time to a Coptic friend, "That is not how we do things back in Scotland".

Oh how wrong I was. Congratulations to Bishop Idris, who becomes our new Primus.
