It is occasionally said that we have had the year of the blog and are now moving into the year of the Wiki. I wonder. I’ve been looking around for a wiki to help collaborative work happen in my new post.
Blog software has matured in a way that wikis have not yet. Blog software is so user-friendly compared to the way they used to be whilst the wikis that I’ve been looking at are still hard to install.
As wikipedia moves into the mainstream, it will be easier to persuade more people to use wikis for collaborative working. However I suspect that most will be behind firewalls or used as extranets.
