One of the only ways of dealing with fundamentalism is by laughing. I heard this as part of an online sermon today –
“Never trust a fundamentalist with two eyes.”
The preacher was preaching a couple of weeks ago on the bit where Jesus tells people to tear out their eyes or cut off their limbs if they cause them to stumble.
Even the most bible-literal people seem to reserve the right to make their own interpretations sometimes.
All of which reminds me to read Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor again sometime soon.
