I spent yesterday making bread – something that I have not done for a couple of years. I think it was probably the best bread I've ever made. Has the emergence of the breadmaking machine led to better flour? I've thought about getting such a machine before. Then I think about the satisfaction that can be had from kneading the dough yourself and I resist. I guess that I would make bread more often with a machine, but I guess that it would never be a spiritual experience.
