Phew – well, that is Edinburgh sorted, thank goodness. I was doing a repeat of the workshop on sexuality that I did in St Saviour’s just before Christmas. I am always surprised that people have never thought that there are some very different ways of decision making – different ethical moods – at work in the minds of church people when facing difficult subjects. Even some of the most thoughtful people assume that there is one, definitive Christian view about any ethical issue. There isn’t of course, not even in the churches which do claim to have all the answers and the workshop that I did last night was trying to draw that out.
I was drawing cartoons throughout the discussion. Stand-Up theology, just like Stand-Up Comedy. People are allowed to heckle and allowed to laugh too.
