I am pleased to be told by the council that it is not illegal to park on white cross-hatching on the road. This means that herses and brides can still get to church, which is a relief. (Yellow cross hatching would be another matter altogether, of course).
Cross-hatching is a fairly good description of how I feel when I look at the junction of Keir Street and Fountain Road. I asked a council employee whether he would be happy for me to encourage the congregation to continue to park in the places that they have done outside the church. I suspect that he started to feel a little cross-hatching himself at this enquiry.
