A very busy Day

To Perth this morning for the first meeting of the Electoral Synod. There is a vacancy in the diocese for a new bishop and this was the first part of the process.  Most of the time today was devoted to listening to what people from the congregations want from a new bishop. It made me realise that even right from the beginning the choice of a bishop is a way of working out whom we really are as a church. That is why these are such serious appointments. That is why they are so hard for those who actually do get elected. They carry a lot of the angst of the rest of us as well as our hopes and dreams for the church.

Back to Bridge of Allan afterwards for a wedding. This took place in the church followed by the reception in the hall and the gardens. It was a lovely occassion – lots of happy people.
