It was Cole Porter day at my film festival yesterday. High Society in the afternoon and the new biopic De-lovely in the evening. Both showing on the big screen in Falkirk.
The music for both was sublime, whatever the merits of the films themselves. I’m not sure that I entirely bought the idea that Cole Porter wrote all the songs for his wife Linda. It seems to me that this is the kind of thing that would have been easier for a Cole Porter to say than for a Cole Porter to mean.
