I do weary of having to defend the parking spaces outside the church from schemes to “improve” the road junction. Having just managed to save enough space for hearses and wedding cars a couple of months ago, there is now a plan to put a bus stop next to the west wall of the church, taking out parking places and surely causing congestion at the junction.
I’ve just been assured on the telephone by someone who is trying implement the scheme that a bit of congestion in Fountain Road would be desirable because it would slow the traffic down. He also assured me that making it more inconvenient to park outside shops would benefit the community because everyone would get fitter.
