Feast Day

Martin of Tours today.

I found myself cheek by jowl with some of his relics a couple of years ago. Bits of jawbone. At the time, it was kind of moving, but right now it seems kind of odd.

After all that has been done to my jawbone, I rather hope mine is kept as a relic for a good long time.

Meanwhile, let us remember Martin cutting his cloak in half and giving half away to someone who needed it. He looked after himself as well as looking after someone else and in today’s hurly-burly world, sometimes we need reminders to nurture ourselves and cultivate our own souls whilst looking out for those in need.

So, an Alleluia for Martin and all who bear his name.
