O Sapienta

O Wisdom, who came from the mouth of the Most High, reaching from end to end and ordering all things mightily and sweetly: come, and teach us the way of prudence.

O Wisdom, poor Wisdom, what a year you have had. How many times have you been snubbed this year? When prisoners are mistreated by state authority, when churches try to wriggle out of treating your children as fully human, when we lose the ability to speak the truth or even know what it is any more, in all these things we have lost sight of you.

You dance through the world. Whirl us around again. Turn us back towards one another’s faces so that we can see you again in one another’s eyes. O Holy Wisdom, come breath your truth through all the dank stables. Make them places where new life, good news and your wise ways can be born again.
