O Adonai

O Lord and Ruler of the House of Israel, who appeared to Moses in the flame of the burning bush and gave him the law on Sinai: come, and redeem us with outstretched arms. Amen.

We have lost sight of the fact that ruling is a holy responsibility. For those who have decisions to make on behalf of others. For those who must judge between one and other. For those who govern and those who rule. O Lord and Ruler, you long to share your judging with us.

The ability of God to judge justly is on offer as much as God’s ability to love us. The two are intertwined. Judging. Loving. When we judge justly, God judges through us. When we love, God loves through us. O Lord an Ruler of the House of Israel, you gave not law without redemption. You offer no judgement outside of your love.
