O key of David, and Sceptre of the House of Israel, who opens and no one shuts, who shuts and no one opens: come, and bring forth the captive from his prison, he who sits in darkness and in the shadow of death. Amen.
When Jesus comes, he comes as one who opens doors and who sets people free. He comes to Bethlehem as the child who will bind all kinds of people into the heart of God. Freeing people from their chains, binding up their wounds. He himself was a prisoner, of course.
