Hurrah! I'm not a heretic

Tried a quiz which attempts to work out whether or not you are  a heretic. I’m not. Hurrah! (Not that I thought I was, of course).

You scored as Chalcedon compliant. You are Chalcedon compliant. Congratulations, you’re not a heretic. You believe that Jesus is truly God and truly man and like us in every respect, apart from sin. Officially approved in 451.

Actually, I think Jesus was truly God and truly human and not as it says above, but that is another story.

  1. (Non-)heresy
Some of that test confused me. How am I supposed to answer “We have not inherited original sin from Adam” if I view Adam and his sin as a metaphor for humanity’s suckitude rather than as a literal person? How am I supposed to have any answer to things like “Only Jesus’ human nature died on on the cross” when we don’t have experience of what happens after death?

That said, I gave a bunch of answers that also turned out to be “Chalcedon-compliant” but felt horribly pigeon-holed in the process. Hmmm.

  2. David says

    (British) Heretic and Orthodox
Imagine my shock (mock) at being found to be 100% Chalcedonian (Niceno-Constantinopolitan really, but let’s not get snooty) and 100% the arch British hersey Pelagian. Perhaps the Episcopal Church is in an even worse state than we thought!
