Swedish Vocabulary

Last week someone asked me to tell them about the winter that I spent in Uppsala with the Church of Sweden when I was an ordinand in training. Spending a few months in Sweden was an excellent way to pass the time in my final year of training in TISEC. As I explained what I did over there, I realised that my grasp of Swedish vocabulary is pretty bizarre, being limited mostly to liturgical and theological words and phrases.

Such as:

 Pingst = Pentecost

 Barmhärtiget Herren =  the mercy of God

 Församlingsbo = parishioner

Handy, huh?
