Child Protection

Lexie Plumtree speaks. As usual, the synod is awed by her name.

Committee on Child Protection will do some work on victims. Helping congregations to help those who are victims of abuse.

New legislation is on course to come into place at end of this year. Vetting and barring scheme will come in. Will mean that we will not be doing forms all the time. Rolling programme will mean that once a check is done, the information will be rolled forward.

The time of filling in multiple applications should facilitate obtaining of disclosures and mean that fewer disclosure forms will be necessary.

Leo Lanahan is leaving soon and a new person has been appointed but can’t be named due to disclosure issues.

Lexie thanks all those who help her and open the floor to questions.

Synod thanks Leo for his work amongst us.

Comments

  1. Michael Partridge applauds the decision to aid the care of victims of abuse. Suffering of survivers goes on for so many years.

Hopefully you don’t really mean disclosure “issues”. We had those already didn’t we?
