There’s a good report in the Herald on same-sex couples being allowed to marry for the first time in New York state.
There’s a brief comment on the situation in Scotland, where gay couples can enter into a Civil Partnership and then if they wish have a blessing. Part of the report is a bit about a Eucharist I celebrated for Richard Mason and Ben Morse a couple of years ago.
The service was featured in Italian Vanity Fair but though there were a number of reporters present, there were not many news reports here. I wrote about it at the time on my blog and there were a couple of secondary reports of that then.
Interestingly, the pull quote that the Herald have used is a comment from Ben which is not so much about one sacrament as about another: “We had atheists and Jews taking communion – they thought ‘if this is what religion can be, we’ll take part’. It was profound, feeling that we had this blessing upon us.”
