What people are looking for

The eagle-eyed (and the geeky) amongst you will have noticed that I’m now using a proper tagging system. Tags are appearing at the end of each post rather than in an ever expanding list of categories down the side of the page. Your blogging tip of the day is that tags are not categories and categories are not tags.

Such taxonomies help people find their way around the internet. They help the search engines.

So here is a list of some of the search engine terms that have brought people to this blog in the last couple of weeks:

  • “gregorian chant” nuns
  • don’t take him just because you can
  • st silas episcopal church
  • elves in the basement
  • wysiwig sermon
  • General Synod on life after death
  • No socks in church
  • shoes churches
  • the mcintosh kilt
  • general trivia
  • episcopal kilt
  • blessing civil partnerships scotland
  • african church understanding not very deep
  • church of fudge nun
  • good short sermons

Don’t know quite what to make of this list. What do you think?

Whatever you are looking for, welcome, one and all

    church of fudge nun?!

  2. kelvin says

Don’t blame me Moyra. Where else would you end up if you were looking for the Church of the Fudge Nun online?

  3. That one didn’t cause me a moment’s pause. (Church and nun being regular features, and fudge an occasional inevitability given your St Andrews readership.)

I liked the string ‘St Silas episcopal church’ best. Though whether David agrees…

  4. Kelvin, your blog is currently causing my feed reader to have a hissy fit, indicated by a red exclamation mark and a failure to spot new posts. Do you think this is related to your recent changes? Maybe I should re-subscribe.

  5. Could you tell me what your feed reader is attempting to read. What is the feed it is pointed at

  6. I just tried to resubscribe using the feedburner option, and the same happened. I’m using Bloglines. It could be their fault – but it worked fine before the last couple of days. Can’t remember what I used previously – it’s been soooo long!

  7. Update: this is the message from Bloglines:
the feed does not appear to exist. This can be caused by the feed URL being incorrect, or it can be caused by a configuration issue with the server hosting the feed. If this error continues, you should check the feed URL and, if it is wrong, subscribe to the correct URL.

    Chris

Could you go to bloglines, then look down amongst additional features and export subscriptions and open the file that is presented. There should be a couple of lines about my blog that are easy to spot. If you could send me those lines, it would be very helpful and I should be able to fix things.

    KELVIN

  9. Hope this does indeed help…

  10. I pasted the info and it’s vanished. Try again:
    outline title=”What’s in Kelvin’s Head” text=”What’s in Kelvin’s Head” htmlUrl=”http://thurible.net/” type=”rss” xmlUrl=”http://thurible.net/backend.php” /
I’ve removed the “less than” from the start and the “greater than” from the end to see if that makes it appear – you’ll have to put them back to complete it.

  11. kelvin says

    Thanks Chris

you are subscribed to an old feed, but I’ll fix it all the same, later in the day. It is the feedburner feeds that you want.

    KELVIN

  12. You’ll be glad to hear you’ve reappeared in a new position in my list. I’ll delete the old one. 🙂

  13. Moyra says

    Oh, I’m not blaming you… just intruiged, that’s all/

I’m now wondering about a whole line of Fudge Nuns, or Fudge Churches, and do the Fudge nuns fit in the Fudge Churches?

  14. Kelvin, could you tell me how you got that list? I’ve seen on a few bloggers blogs how people ahve ended up on their site but I’m not sure what it is.

I use Googlereader to view my feeds online, its usefull since I am on 3 different computers regularly, my own laptop, a PC at Uni and a PC at work.

  15. So what is a Category then? I have obviously been doing it wrong and am going to have to go back and edit all my entries! Just what you need on holiday.
