• Prayer for those caught up in the Clutha Vaults tragedy

We will be remembering those who have died and praying for all those caught up in the Clutha Vaults tragedy on Sunday 1 December 2013 at the 10.30 am service and indeed at all services on that day.

The following prayer is offered for those in Glasgow and those from further afield who wish to pray for the city at this time.

    Eternal God
Help us to pray for the people of Glasgow – this dear green place.
With thanksgiving we remember those who have shown courage.
With concern we remember those injured.
With compassion we remember the bereaved.
With love we pray for all caught up in this event.
    Strengthen the weary.
    Protect the vulnerable.
    Embrace those who grieve.
    Amen.

(Yeah, I’ve given up on wittering. Transpires Q, in which I wrote that thing, was too CPU-intensive for the poor wee colo-server to cope with when bots came knocking, so it had to go; it’s all-but a dead language now anyway…)

Mental. On my ‘to do’ list for today was to write a ‘back blogging’ post…

    Very strange!

Think of it as the Holy Spirit, Nick.

Or alternatively think of it as synchronicity as many of the rest of us might do.

    Glad you are coming back.

So it does. Thanks, I’ve updated the link.

I usually read Fr David’s blog in google reader. What an exotic layout it has in real life!

My dears, I can only wish I were as exotic in real life!

Hope Nick starts blogging again too! He did a post reviewing The Dark Knight once, which is more down-wit’-da-kidz than highfalutin’ praepostorial theatre reviews 😉 (that said, do hope you do The Habit of Art! :-))

Thanks John – you’ve already got a nicely behaving rss feed for your content but I can’t find one for comments.

  • Silver Ring Thing

Looks like we have another Christianity vs School Uniform debacle, this time over a silver chastity ring from the programme known as the Silver Ring Thing. If the BBC report is anything to go by, the school is on pretty shaky ground in my view. The school seems to think that wearing the veil is…

  • Solstice

Can someone remind me what I am supposed to do for summer solstice. I tried celebrating it this evening with a trip up the road to the Botanics which was open late for the occasion. Striking a pose in front of the glass-houses was all very well for 10 minutes but then the midges started…

  • Exceptions

A long time ago, and in a land far away, I remember The Rev Rosemary Nixon saying something significant to me which I still think true today. (Just once, mind). She said, in the course of a conversation about my progress through the Scottish Episcopal Church’s exemplary education system, “The trouble is, Kelvin, everyone in…

  • Tales of the City

A knock at the door. I answer it to find a young man wearing black T-shirt, black shorts (were they boxer shorts?) and no shoes or socks. Me: Hello Him: Er hello. Me: Can I help. Him: Er, I was just wondering if you had any white wine vinegar. Me: Oh, hang on a minute.…
