I saw this painting recently in London. It purports to be St Monica being handed her newly born son who was to become Augustine of Hippo.
It seems to me that this painting explains much.

Thank you, Far. Kelvin. Jesus does indeed challenge all of us on this theme – loving our enemies. It is one of the most difficult things to do – especially when one is persecuted for their received innate sexuality. You Scottish Episcopalians – together with your North American cousins in TEC – have helped our worldwide Anglican Communion to understand the need for Inclusive Church – being aware that God loves everyone God has created.
