• International Day Against Homophobia

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia.

I’m not going to say much about it except to point towards a youtube video – one of the most articulate speeches of recent years about the topic.

It is an unlikely person speaking in an unlikely location – a drag queen called Panti Bliss speaking at the end of of a production in the Abbey Theatre in Ireland.

Lots of people will have seen it. If you haven’t, take a look.

The next time you hear a straight church leader speaking about how it is not actually homophobic to take actions which work to the detriment of gay and lesbian people remember this speech. And ask who is best placed to decide what is homophobic and what isn’t.

you forgot to mention that light boxes work much better in proper offices, rather than those shared with cats.

Oh, that’s one of those PhD theses never yet completed: Symbiosis and Stasis – the effect of cats on lightboxes, the effect of lightboxes on cats and the effects of each on those living with Seasonally Affective Disorder.

According to those posters on the underground, catowners are apparently more stress-free and content and the norm so, surely, a cat AND light box owner ought to be chirpy as Santa Clause!

We have one. Not out yet but it might have been had it not been for a few days earlier this week in Belfast while NI pretended to be Spain in summer!

Thanks Coxy. Can I also saw how much I am in awe of your Church Times Page 3 Stunner success this week.

    A media triumph.

Now, if I dressed up in pink and had my photo taken running about in shorts, I wonder if the Church Times….

Although surely, given the choice, Italian Vanity Fair makes for the more impressive C.V. entry ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Concert – Saturday Night

Just a quick reminder that there is a concert on Saturday evening at St Mary’s featuring music by the choir (both adults and trebles) and friends. We are getting Vivaldi’s Gloria, the Icelandic Carol in honour of our Lady and other choral favourites. The Gloria will be the first half, and will be sung with…

  • Just wondering?

Just wondering, … Will we one day look back on drag queens in the same way that we now look back on the Black and White Minstrels? Is it the same or is it different? I can’t make my mind up.

  • Companions?

This diocese has a companion link with a diocese in Rwanda. Last night we had a visit from Meg Guillebaud a CMS Mission Partner from the diocese in question who came and gave an excellent presentation about life in that country. Over the last few years, I’ve met quite a few people connected with Rwanda…

  • Sermon Posted

This week’s sermon is now posted on the preaching page. I filmed John Riches from a different pillar to that from which Caroline was filmed last week. I think the one of Caroline looks better. The stained glass adds more backlighting than I had expected. Some bright spark this week suggested that I film the…
