  • Candidates for the Sin Against the Holy Ghost

    People sometimes ask me (and no doubt other clergy) what the sin against the Holy Ghost actually is – the one which cannot be forgiven.

    Mark 3:28-29
    Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
    But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

    Now, there is a great deal of confusion about this, but I think I have narrowed down the possibilities.

    I’m pretty sure that it is one of the following:

    Thank you. The lack of numes being forgiven in an office presented as a ‘said’ version.
    However. Angels being ever present, and unpredictable, numes scamper around here, and may yet proceed abroad in leaps and bounds. We shall see. A new year can bring surprises.
