I have just issued the following statement:
“I am delighted to hear that the Anglican Church in Brazil has just changed its marriage canon to allow same-sex couples to get married. As we have rejoiced in St Mary’s Cathedral Glasgow in recent months with couples who have waited years to be married in church, so we rejoice with couples doing the same thing in Brazil.
“All God’s children are equally beloved. We rejoice as greater equality comes to another part of the Anglican Communion”
Yep. And I think that the Primus has got it badly wrong in responding to this one.
Allowing political and religious ad would turn us into another US, where political and religious “debate” centres on who can raise, or already has, the most money.
Oh yes, and while we’re at it we had better ban all films from public showing which contain any religious content – eg: ‘Schindlers List’, ‘Brooklyn’, ‘Magdalen Sisters’, ‘Fury’, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Doubt’, etc,etc. We should not risk offending anyone should we? Idiocy – whose idiocy?
Surely wanting political and religious ads banned from cinemas is about good taste rather than offence.
