Well, I saw the maniple in Argyll, only yards from the sea, so I am sure that it was in the wild.
It was being worn correctly on the left arm, but was not removed when the wearer preached a sermon. (The sermon was quite good, but the presence of the maniple was obviously a little distracting).
It seems difficult, at first glance, to see how anyone can preach anything worth saying about the story of the Good Samaritan. It does not seem to matter how often Jesus?s words are repeated, they lose none of their power. The problem for the preacher is what to say. For this is one of those…
