• Scottish Episcopal Kalendar 2026

For years now, I’ve produced a Kalendar for the Scottish Episcopal Church with all the bible readings set out for the year.

This year’s Kalendar is available online so that anyone can download it and print it out for themselves.
It is available right here: Scottish Kalendar 2026

Anyone who would like to make a donation because they enjoy the Kalendar so much and want to encourage me to keep doing it is welcome to do so via paypal. I used to offer printed copies at £5 per copy.

The summary of the Bishops’ Instruction on Fasting and Abstinence is available as a single pdf here: Bishops’ Instructions on Fasting

One response to “Jericho, Berlin and what wall next?”

From Glasgow, maybe the Falling Wall (helped by four East German guys who took the initiative to push open the four doors in it without orders to do so) is incredibly important, and for some in Germany too. But as it coincided with Kristallnacht and the destruction in this area of the Heidelberg and nearby synagogues, churches also focussed on that. November is a sombre month, with All Souls which is still followed, Totensonntag, Kristallnacht, Veterans Day and Remembrance Sunday for the many Commonwealth and Americans here. The Wall is down, but not gone.

Ruth never worked in…

  • Predictions for 2022

Boris Johnson will be replaced with a Prime Minister who is more competent, more right wing and more difficult to beat. A good year for Michael Gove (who is almost invisible at the moment). Church of Scotland General Assembly votes to allow same-sex couples to be married in church. More significantly, almost no-one leaves in…

  • Predictions 2021 – How did I do?

Time to see how I did with my predictions at the start of this year. Boris Johnson will achieve his longstanding ambition to become a former Prime Minister. Alas, Boris Johnson did not achieve this ambition this year. But we must award him 10/10 for trying. He’ll get there in the end. Prediction not accurate…

One of the odd features of coronavirus time for me has been vivid dreams and disturbed sleep. I know that I’m not alone in this, I’ve heard others speak about it too. Particularly during the various lockdown experiences I’ve found myself suddenly sitting bolt upright at 3 in the morning trying to sort out my…
