• Candidates for the Sin Against the Holy Ghost

    People sometimes ask me (and no doubt other clergy) what the sin against the Holy Ghost actually is – the one which cannot be forgiven.

    Mark 3:28-29
    Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
    But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

    Now, there is a great deal of confusion about this, but I think I have narrowed down the possibilities.

    I’m pretty sure that it is one of the following:

    I found this post (and your blog) via Mosaic Scotland, and reading it has made me very happy. I’ve struggled with faith and sexuality and my relationships for a long time, and a lot of people have asked me why I bother trying to reconcile who I am with a church that doesn’t accept me; what you wrote here is *exactly* why I do –
