House of Cards

I’ve been watching the first part of the House of Cards trilogy on BBC4 this week. Having seen and enjoyed the second two parts of the trilogy previously, it is all starting to make more sense on being able to see the first part of the story.

It is a horribly wicked tale of hypocrisy and double dealing at the top of the political ladder. My own foray into politics a few years ago left me with a sense of surprise at how nice people in that world were to one another.

House of Cards is supposed to be dark political satire. I find myself unable to watch it without the thought at the back of my mind that it also makes pretty good ecclesiastical allegory too.
