Enthroning

It isn’t every day you get to enthrone someone. (Many thanks to Gordon Smith for the picture).

I’m glad the date chosen was the feast of a martyr, the red was so glorious!

  2. Does look a bit like a courtly dance!

  3. Can we have a caption competition please?

  4. Is that the Holy Spirit descending on your head?

  5. It is indeed a tongue of fire.

  6. Gordon says
  7. “Ravishing lady in red, will you dance the tango with me?”
“I will not, and for three reasons…..”
To complete old joke, see George Brown, Foreign Secretary 1970s.

  8. Funnily enough, I heard that joke in an after dinner speech last week in Manchester. (Told in response to their lay clerks singing Lady in Red for our entertainment and delight).

Those who want in on the joke can find it retold on wikipedia, but there it is rather boringly dismissed as untrue.

  9. Fr Madpriest is encouraging captions over on his blog too.

And your new Bishop had the cheek to refer to my deaconing as “the crowning of the Brisbane Queen” when he preached the sermon and I wore that dalmatic in the Cathedral back in 1993 (Feast of St Barnabas)! What goes around comes around!

From the looks of things Gordon got after MP for pilfering.

  12. Phew! I read Pam’s second comment too quickly, and thought it was about Gordon Brown. Now I have to think whether I’m relieved or disappointed.

Caption ” Where did you get your nails done? You MUST give me their number!”
