• General Synod

You can find coverage of the General Synod of the Scottish Episcopal Church on twitter at http://twitter.com/secsynod
(It is me who is tweeting).

Questions welcome either to that account or to me on @thurible.

There are details of how to follow the synod over on http://www.scotland.anglican.org including details of the live audio feed.

I have had Garlic Mash three times in the past week, and Garlic and Horseradish on a steak last night.

I do not have a cold, so maybe it will work for you – or at least act as a preventative when am next at St Mary’s.

Kelvin, have you tried mulled wine?

Sachets with the mulling spices in them shouldn’t be too hard to get hold of (try Peckhams). They look like little teabags. Add a dash of orange juice, maybe float a slice on top as well. : )

It might not do much for your cold, but at least it’ll help you sleep, which is what you need right now — rest and fluids.

Also worth trying is a Hot Toddy.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Garlic’s not a bad idea. I’ve always found if I have a hot, garlic soaked, curry when I’ve got the lurgy I feel better.

What you need is a hot curry followed by a hot bath!

This man cold of yours is lingering on a bit or are you “milking” this illness??!!

What is a man cold? Don’t women get them too?

It seems to be a widely held view amongst women that men make much of their sufferings when they get a cold.

There is an urban dictionary definition here.

There are some who say that the female equivalent of a mancold is the flu, but I could not possibly comment.

If Ms Asphodeline is fed up of hearing about my poor state of health, presumably it will be quite a while before we hear anything about her own on livejournal.

Haha, you know I’ll probably get the office lurgy now?!

I hope you feel better soon. There’s nothing worse than a man with a cold

I’ve been asked by several people recently for book recommendations for one thing or another. So, I’ve decided to put them online for all to see, along with some of the reviews in Inspires magazines which I’ve written or otherwise been responsible for.So here is a book blog. I’ll not be updating it every day,…

  • Sermon 22 January 2005

Epiphany – the season that we are in at the moment, is our reminder that God does not remain in the glittery wrappings of Christmas for very long. It is our reminder that we are dealing, in Jesus Christ with someone who encountered people. Someone who looked people in the eye and said – “Come…

  • Hurrah! I'm not a heretic

Tried a quiz which attempts to work out whether or not you are  a heretic. I’m not. Hurrah! (Not that I thought I was, of course).   You scored as Chalcedon compliant. You are Chalcedon compliant. Congratulations, you’re not a heretic. You believe that Jesus is truly God and truly man and like us…

  • Turned into a Pundit

I’ve been away for a few days on the diocesan clergy conference. I arrive back to find that I’ve been turned into a pundit. The Equality Network has picked up a quote from this blog and included it in their January newsletter. My original post is here – the newsletter here.
