• New Statement from College of Bishops

There’s a new statement from the College of Bishops today about same-sex marriage.

It can, and should, be read in full – see here: College of Bishops Guidance re Marriage 2014

I’m appalled by its contents and in particular appalled at the way the Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church are treating gay clergy and lay readers in the church. The homophobic bullying of candidates for ministry – ordinands and candidates for lay readership is particularly unpleasant.

I expect I will have more to say, in many ways and in many places.

Have you invited the Primus to come along with his Brompton?

Personally, I doubt that bicycles are a helpful liturgical tool. The last time I was on one, it was in tandem with my training rector. We fell. We bled. Weeks passed before we could kneel at the daily office.

(though perhaps if bikes still came with sparkly ribbon streamers as they did when I was 8, I could be persuaded)

It sounds to me as though it would have been quite a good idea to have looked for a blessing before taking to the tandem.

+Primus has been invited by facebook.

      Natch.

Unlike with pets, bikes are less prone to accidents on the carpets.

Its Ascension Day today. (Its always a Thursday, you know). One of the best of the Feast Days to celebrate. All of the glory, none of the angst. Bishop Gregor is keeping it in St Mary’s tonight at 7.30. The music will include the lovely Little Organ Mass by Haydn.
