• Prayer for those caught up in the Clutha Vaults tragedy

We will be remembering those who have died and praying for all those caught up in the Clutha Vaults tragedy on Sunday 1 December 2013 at the 10.30 am service and indeed at all services on that day.

The following prayer is offered for those in Glasgow and those from further afield who wish to pray for the city at this time.

    Eternal God
Help us to pray for the people of Glasgow – this dear green place.
With thanksgiving we remember those who have shown courage.
With concern we remember those injured.
With compassion we remember the bereaved.
With love we pray for all caught up in this event.
    Strengthen the weary.
    Protect the vulnerable.
    Embrace those who grieve.
    Amen.

welcome back Kelvin. I’ve a suggestion for you re. the sermon’s you post here. Would it be possible to include details of the readings for that sunday; or can you direct me to a site that would give the readings in the Anglican cycle? I really enjoyed reading the sermon for 1st June but do not know what passage from Romans you are refering to. The historical weight you put behind it in reference to the reformation makes it something i’m intrigued by.

In addition to matters liturgical, I’ve been at two concerts over the last couple of days. One of contemporary music and another by a brilliant new jazz ensemble. Both of these were taking place in St Mary’s as elements of the West End Festival. It is wonderful to see the building open and in use…

Wait a minute, I need a maniple. What? I need a maniple, if I am going to celebrate this morning. No you don’t. You might want a maniple, but you don’t really think you need one do you? What!? No maniple, no mass! Anyway, I’m not sure it should be called a maniple. What about…

Here is this year’s General Synod Trivia Quiz (I’ve never published this publicly before, but it is not the first year that the quiz has run).
