    ¡Muchas felicidades!

These are some important major steps forward. I hope & pray that the change comes soon for Scotland.

Many folks do not realize that legal marriage is now available in all of Mexico. The Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, which is home to the major part of Mexico City, passed legislation in 2009, which became effective in 2010, allowing same sex civil marriage. Civil marriage is the only legal marriage in Mexico. Backed by the RC church, this law was constitutionally challenged later in 2010 before the Mexican Supreme Court. The justices first ruled 5 AUG, that the law was constitutional, in an 8 to 2 decision. (One justice was absent.) On 10 AUG the court ruled 9 to 2, that the Mexico City marriages were legally valid in all 31 states of the Mexican Union and the Federal District.

Many same sex couples now honeymoon in Mexico City and have their civil marriage performed while there.

  • In Search of the Presbyterian Sense of Humour

I’ve received a request off-blog from someone in the colonies, asking to be pointed to any Scottish bloggers writing from a presbyterian point of view who display the same kind of sense of humour as some of those linking to and posting comments on here. I don’t know the answer to this one, so my…

There was an interesting flurry of postings online over the last weekend about what might happen to certain dioceses in the USA who are disaffected within The Episcopal Church and where their bishops are seeking to lead them to a more theologically narrow resting place. In particular, the Primate of the Southern Cone (ie bits…

  • Eric is blogging

Seems like Eric is blogging. Practical theology, citizenship and democracy by the look of it. Likely to be good. I’ve a degree in Practical Theology and Christian Ethics from the institution that Eric teaches in. (Scotland’s First University). I’m unsure about the former (practical theology) and deeply suspicious of the latter (Christian ethics).

  • Carmen from the wings

The BBC had a good Carmen on Radio 3 last week. I listened to it last Saturday evening whilst sitting at my computer working. (Well, that’s my story, anyway). Opera works quite well on radio. Nice music, and as we all know, the pictures are better on the radio than the telly. However, this ENO…
