It is World AIDS Day next week. To mark that date this year, I’ve recorded a number of conversations with Marion Chatterley in connection with her work as Chaplain to people with HIV and Hep C in Scotland.

Here are some of the things that Marion and I touched on this conversation:

    • Does it matter if you become HIV+ when they’ve got medicines that can keep it under control?
    • What stigma means in Scotland today
    • How young gay men are putting themselves at unnecessary risk
    • Dating apps
    • Why the church needs to talk about healthy relationships

There will be more later in the week. Comments and questions welcome below.

It is impossible to comment on these matters without appearing patronizing, ignorant or rude probably all three at once.
I’m not a member of any Christian denomination, but if I was an Episcopalian and 38 Archbishops of my church unanimously signed a communique then I would be loath to disagree with it.

I was at a conference in York last summer and participated in a workshop on sexual diversity. I was proud to be able to quote part of this statement to others in the group. I’m not sure if it was this summer I would feel as proud to be a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church.

What a great time I had this morning in Young Church. One of the things that we’ve been working to change, in devising a new programme for younger members in St Mary’s, is to build in some more contact with clergy. Today was the first clergy day in Young Church and I was the designated…

What’s that? Did I see one of our bishops in the Daily Record today? Indeed I did, and kudos to Bishop Bob Gillies for leading the debate against caffeinated alchoholic drinks.
